I skate because it is fun learning new tricks and progressing onto bigger things.
It is motivating and creative.
It is a feeling that simply cannot be beat.
MY FAVOURITE TRICKS
My favourite tricks are frontside smith grinds and kickflips.
ADVISE TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE JUST STARTED SKATEBOARDING
A good piece of advice for anyone who has just started is after you have learnt the basics, to practise by just skateboarding to and from places. You may even meet a few people doing the same thing and just cruising about.
MY FAVOURITE TEACHING STORY
My favourite teaching story is my first training day. I was shadowing a lesson taught by my good friend, Max Golfar. It was an early start as it was a full day lesson and we picked up the child, Charlie, at 10am from his house.
Charlie wanted to learn at a number of different skateparks so we started the day at Southbank for a warm up. We then moved onto helping Charlie with his ramp skills at the House of Vans skatepark. After a couple of hours, we hopped on the train to Brixton to go to Stockwell skatepark to imporve his bowl skating. It was a fun day. Charlie learnt a lot, and was really please that he managed to land the trick his favourite trick for the first time. It was a good glimpse of what it is like to be a skateboarder and showed me the rewards of helping people to achieve their goals.
