Bay Sixty6 Skatepark

This skatepark is the only indoor skatepark in London, situated beneath the A40 motorway, so is entirely sheltered from above while allowing a breeze to blow through too.
Renovated by Nike, Bay Sixty 6 is a paradise for skaters and certainly is an improvement on ‘Old Bay’, providing everything you could need or want, regardless of whether you’re a beginner, has-been shredder or professional. The staff are friendly and helmets don’t need to be worn.
The park is made up of three main sections: beginner, park/street and bowl. The street section is built up of funboxes, stair sets, ledges, hips, quarterpipes and (still keeping the heritage) the infamous vert wall to add flow to the park. My main issue with this area is that it takes a while for you to get from one bit to the other. Whilst I dislike parks that are cramped, I also find a negative in parks being too spaced out, regardless, this is still very well done and provide numerous possibilities.
The bowl section takes up about a quarter of the park and has very nice flow, it’s very easy to keep a line going in there. The transition in both the deep and the shallow end are very clean and aren’t too whippy making it easy to learn tricks and, providing you don’t annoy anyone, can double up as a mini ramp. Finally, the beginners section is built up of a couple of vert walls, wallrides, stair set, flatbar etc; perfect for a fun session with your mates and for beginners (as the name suggests). However, I found the four stair had too short a run up for the length and the small quarter was too whippy.
Overall though, this is a very enjoyable park and the price is not only worth it, but also better value than most indoor ones in the area.
